Bitcoin is the currency that’s taking the world by storm, but it can be confusing for the uninitiated. Engadget explains where you can use Bitcoin in laymen’s terms by reaching out to fintech pros like myself. Credit card transactions might seem like the same thing as Bitcoin, but they come with fees that Bitcoin doesn’t have. Bitcoin boasts nominal fees and is sometimes even totally free. When I co-founded a payments business, you can bet that I honed in on the best, free (or as close to free!) options that I could find.

However, just because Bitcoin is safe and legit, that doesn’t mean you can use it everywhere. There are now more than 100,000 merchants globally that take Bitcoin (both at brick and mortars and online) with big names like Dell, Overstock and Microsoft giving you the option. Still, we’re waiting for more merchants to get on board. The latest additions include Theatre Tickets Direct and CheapAir.com. You can score discounts in some peer to peer marketplaces like Purseio, too.

We’re in the midst of a currency overhaul, and you can expect to see Bitcoin being used more and more often. Read more here:
