I’ve had countless examples of entrepreneurs being idiots when they move out to Silicon Valley. I went to lunch the other day with someone that left his wife and 2 children behind for 6 months and moved out here. He has virtually no money in his pocket. His plan was to move out here and go knock on investors doors and they would welcome him in with open arms. He was in for a treat when he found out that he must set and appointment and the majority of them wanted nothing to do with him. I listened to his pitch for his startup and it sucked. It was a horrible idea that I wouldn’t give him $1 for. Why would you move out here and risk everything for a company that has no potential? I was with 2 other people during that lunch and each one of them texted me afterward that the idea was horrible. His house is being foreclosed on, wife and children are in a different state living in poverty and he dropped everything for a stupid idea. Make sure your idea is a solid idea that people want and/or need.
