Have you considered adding white papers to your entrepreneurial venture or small business? White papers are more in-depth pieces that provide a real service to your readers/clients. The Next Web reported on how they can also help you become a thought leader, too! I was asked about my thoughts on white papers, and I believe that a new strategy can optimize business efforts. White papers educate, inform, and give you a chance to dish up in-depth information. The more you do this, the more you’ll be seen as an expert and key resource.

You can create content with the goal of attracting people/links/shares, or with the goal of helping. If you want to help, you need to provide information that your audience wants. That’s what white papers do, but they also will naturally attract people, links, and shares.

Are white papers more work? Yes, but many find them worth the effort. In some cases, you can offer them as swag, and they can be excellent outbound links for complementary sites. Make sure you use updated, current research and cite correctly. End all white papers with a CTA, and you’re golden.
