If you’re a boss, it’s almost a guarantee that you’re in a constant time crunch. However, staying connected with your employees is critical for company morale. All Business asked 13 business owners what we considered the best tricks for maintaining that link with staff. I like to multi-task when it works, which is why I invited my staffers on one of my daily walks. It’s just 15 minutes strolling around the area, and it helps us both stay healthy, raise our heart rates, and clear our heads. It’s also a fantastic way to get to know one another in a tech-free environment.

I’ve found these walks to be the absolute best means of getting to know people. In just one month, I took 40 walks with 40 staffers. That’s nearly 500 people per year! Other business owners schedule regular check-ins because when staying connected is on your calendar, you’ll both make it happen. Some say that a simple, “Good morning!” is all it takes to get the connection rolling on a daily basis.

Being accessible and just walking around the office can also be a great way to encourage connections.
